Are you confident that you would be able to provide assistance if someone you knew stopped breathing? To make sure that your skills are current complete a CPR (cardio pulmonary resuscitation) course every year. The YMCA uses a relaxed learning environment to help you feel comfortable when learning these life saving skills.
- Emergency assessment and basic life support priorities
- Assessing the accident victim
- Managing the unconscious victim
- Personal hygiene techniques
- Resuscitation techniques
- Mouth to mask techniques
- Dealing with infants, children and adults
To be deemed competent you will successfully complete a range of scenarios dealing with patients who have different first aid needs. This course provides participants with knowledge and practical life support skills necessary for CPR. To be able to perform CPR it is necessary for participants to have the physical ability to get down to the floor.
Upon successful completion of all assessment components participants will be eligible for the Statement of Attainment and will have sound knowledge and understanding of how to provide basic life support skills of CPR.
